Moments before the show began, I was outside on the balcony where the presentation was held at The Standard, High Line. Real quick, I got a glimpse of Piotrek, and to me he seemed to be so calm and relaxed. Part of me wanted to jog his memory that both him and Beckett are competing as finalists in this years CFDA|Vogue Fashion Fund. Yet, his calmness reflected well in their pieces shown today – most of their fabrics were very solid colours combined with styling flare and their use of accessories.
Majority of their time has been spent in library’s obsessing over any kind of visual imagery of the 1970’s fashion. Which is where the hint of mod comes into play, focus especially on the leg & foot area. The pant kind of flares out and the extra detail in the bow on the shoes were a nice touch. It surely got my attention but look 15 stole my heart with the embossed organza parka and look 11 stole the show for sure! The green embossed lamé dress, bolero, bow sandals and bag with teal mirrored sunglasses. Head to toe, stole. the. show!
A little ‘101 Dalmatians’ [also originally from the 60’s] had a brief evocative-role in this collection, that also brought positive attention to their brand and our nostalgic-adolescent fantasies. Today’s show just got me amplified to watch the new season online of The Fashion Fund web-series on Amazon.com – the newness and the youngness will bring a new spark into the competition.
