[PHOENIX.] Not only was it EASTER weekend, it was my birthday on Saturday the 4th and I couldn’t have enjoyed my celebration any other way than to be in Phoenix for the Honeymoon Tour. Special thanks to my dearest friends Holly and Scott for their hospitality as we adventured off to the U.S. Airways center downtown. The excitement we had just kept us restless and anxiously waiting for the show to start and to my surprise it wasn’t that long of a wait. Right before 9 o’clock Ariana Grande rose up on stage facing away from the crowd giving the screaming girls a chance to vocalize their excitement.
The show started with the popular hit BANG BANG which was an exciting entrance for Grande that matched her fans energy. First came the screams then came the aftershock as she performed Hands On Me the Phoenix Arianators were a bit stunned and didn’t really sing along. Perhaps because they were a bit starstruck or mesmerized by her angelic giggles and stunning smile. There’s tremendous talent in Grande’s vocals and I’m grateful to have witnessed it live. In the show a video clip of Imogen Heap was shown to introduce a new way to experience Grande’s singing voice through high tech gloves. The brains behind the Mi.Mu gloves have brought us just a glimpse of how music performances will be like in the future. All controlled by simple hand gestures Grande delivered another perspective of her voice that can be achieved through technology completely under her absolute control.
Before the show Ariana tweeted additional cities she’ll be headlining to promote her emotive album My Everything that was released August of last year. The biggest let down had to be that Grande did not perform my favourite song Almost Is Never Enough but I’ll be happy with the performance of my second choice Best Mistake. To be fair there were songs that I never heard of and completely enjoyed like Tattooed Heart and Pink Champagne. Since Grande isn’t big on choreography she was creative in making various grand entrances with flying in on a floating cloud, a giant chandelier and even an elegant grand piano. The core to a successful production isn’t the props or dancing yet the passion that’s given in singing the heartfelt lyrics. To me Grande did exactly that, with her effortless charm that anyone from any age group can relate to because no one is immune to love.
