[NEW YORK CITY.] After attending their show last September, it was definitely a collection I had to see this season. There was just a natural excitement to see what they have put together and this season they kept to the same design spirit with the titled theme ‘Metamorphosis’ S/S 15. On the official instagram page their bio simply states “Life’s too short to blend in…” and I feel that most of their celebrity clients like Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears and Paris Hilton among others, certainly possess that mindset. And with that outlook comes innovation along with recognition that keeps Falguni and Shane Peacock at the forefront of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
When designers start out their presentation with their first look in nothing-but an all-white garment, to me that’s a good omen, signifying that the rest of the collection will be on point. The first model came out wearing a high-waisted maxi skirt that was so elegantly done, yet included the rebellious energy. The following look featured a white mesh-like pullover that has got to be in my #VisionCloset because it’s everything that I epitomize. The white that indicates purity and goodness that I strive for and the ability to see underneath the sweater grants the truth to not be withheld, adding REBEL with it all because I’m the type to go against the norm. Anyways, Falguni continues to showcase pieces with shimmery-vibrant colours of a night storm and studs combined with dark straight lines and shapes.
It seemed that most of her silhouettes were patterned after the attire that is worn in the culture of India. According to my interpretation of this Metamorphosis’ collection, it was inspired by a girl from srilanka who wasn’t about to live life in compliance with tradition and decided to transform and rebel into a good girl gone bad attitude. Except that’s just my take on it and I think it’s a brilliant one.
