[MANHATTAN, NY.] Not sure where the hell I’ve been all these years but this is my first introduction to the brand Initio Perfums. Which has a committed cult following from all over the world with their headquarter’s out of France. And the only justification I have to save myself is that Neiman Marcus carries their collection and that specific department store doesn’t exist in New York City anymore sadly. Yet, I am forever grateful to Christopher Gillispie from Red Heifer Media for granting me and my girlies press access to the launch party for Narcotic Delight.
Let’s dive into what I experienced at the event. Upon arrival I was smacked in the face + nostrils with the exciting fragrance of Narcotic Delight and it immediately took me to a place where I thought of THAT guy! Yes, everyone has that one guy in their life – who’s extremely sexy, hot and mysterious – that we all know is toxic but trying to completely forget. All night he was on my mind but was it my fault, definitely not. What should be noted about this fragrance is the use of tobacco that’s blended with different notes of cherry, vanilla bean, pink pepper and drenched in cognac. Which basically describes my toxic man whose love for nicotine overpowers any desire to settle down with me.
A distinctive way that sets Initio Parfums apart from their competitors is their understanding of how powerful a scent could create a specific desired reaction. At the event Derek L. the brains behind the massive expansion in the US Market made mention that a university study from Germany concluded that after a few days of wearing Narcotic Delight will only heighten your libido. That was the disclaimer given at the party as he jokes about a dedicated dark room available downstairs. A joke I didn’t find funny cause I take dark rooms very seriously, like its a full time job. Please understand I’m only teasing.
The event had a live DJ and she was great! The open bar on the main level stayed busy whilst the Photo Booth downstairs had a long line that never died. Part of my group was to be blamed cause we hogged that stand for a good minute and we are not sorry. As for the bites, the lamb was sooooo delish but I thoroughly enjoyed the Love Shot that was packed with all the healthy good stuff: Tart cherry, black pepper, lemon, beet and of course turmeric.
Looking at the brand it has five collections with a variety of different offerings per category. This specific new scent falls under the Carnal Blends collection that overpowers boundaries to reveal physical hedonism and explores more pleasures. Within this collection you’ll find other scents to be more sweeter but this doesn’t carry much of any sweetness besides the juicy hint of cherry and vanilla. This was created for a mans man or the children like to call them… bros. As the perfumes are all majority unisex throughout each group but I would think this is best for those that identify as a man. Only because the first few sprits you’ll recognise the sweeter notes first and on the dry down is where the scent settles more into the cigar and cognac fragrances that’ll combine better with a mans natural body smell.
