[SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA.] In South Korea a cartoon character exists as a legitimate citizen with proper legal documentations to prove he’s been excepted as a native. The cartoon character known as Dooly can now add to his resume as being the inspiration for this seasons collection. For the most part Suk Tae Lee kept with black, white and grey being the main colour range and a select few pieces were adorned with the colourful dinosaur character. Eccentric overcoats seem to be Lee’s strong point in designing avant-garde hand-made garments. His jackets reminded me of a militant roman space god which are two different concepts yet fit perfectly together. When it comes to Lee’s main esthetic in creating: it’s adding tacky embellishments to complete structural avant-grande ensembles. The quality in his meticulous detailing validates Suk Tae Lee’s noteworthy show at New York Fashion Week as a deserving accomplishment.
