[TOKYO, JAPAN] A runway show by Manila Fashion Festival that was organised by Genshi Shigekawa, the prime fashion week event in the Philippines has made its way to Minami Aoyama at the Stump Base event space. This marks their second activation showing in Japan and Manila Fashion Festival has been in existence since 2014 and has been able to highlight over 150 designers that exude the artistic filipino mind. Now the PH MODE x TYO portion is a collaboration with many facets because they’ve partnered with STYLEM as well to make this journey a reality. It’s giving a sense of community that’s working together with a one-mind-one-purpose mission in order to take up space and have Filipino designers be seen at global fashion weeks.
At the showcase there were a lucky number of seven designers that sent out about 4/5 looks each that displayed or represented each brand respectively. Please make an effort to research each brand but I’ll list the designers: ALODIA CECILIA, AZUCAR, BARBA, ELLIS CO, JOR-EL ESPINA, THIAN RODRIGUEZ, S’TOI|C.
THIAN RODRIGUEZ – has branded his line as the black sheep with creating attention focused clothing pieces and looks that cater to the edgy bold woman who dares to be seen as a fashionable badass. This showcase seemed a bit reserved than his usual, well to be fair only three looks were presented not enough to show full range, however online there are to die for pieces worth ogling over.

ELLIS CO – creates most of his silhouettes from the post-war architectural influences found in London and from Japanese fashion aesthetics as he implements his own vision of avant-guarde with gender-neutral pieces. For this preview, Ellis seems to have dropped Archives label to now focus on Ellis Co as the brand identity to scale more for global presence and the collection was more on the safer side of experiential designs. No online elements to link for his brand sadly.
