[New York, NY.] Alright, this show knocked me down and left me with no words! This was the first time I’ve attended a Sānchez-Kane collection and now I know what to expect for next time. Honestly, I came simply to enjoy new sights on clothes but I ended up seeing bare naked asses in jock straps dancing around the runway. Well, the dancers were on the runway dancing around penis sculptures but there was a lot more happening throughout the showcase.
Apparently, Mexico is still in medieval times with their lack of educating their future leaders on sex and different sub-categories of sex. Which is the reason and inspiration for this entire collection, Barbara Sānchez-Kane wanted to bring that to light and give a voice to boys specifically in Mexico. Once I was able to look away from the blemish-free ass cheeks and focus on the actual garments – I noticed that Sānchez-Kane can construct amazing pieces. There was a lot going on everywhere I looked: the over-the-top drag makeup, the open condoms in the model’s hair, the shoes, the overlapping of fabrics and the nipple cut-outs that resembled Regina George in mean girls. It was quite the show and a great deal of information to process.
