[NEW YORK CITY.] Closing out NYFW on a great note and on such a fashion high with Todd Snyder that I even forgot the unwanted cold weather outside. Yet, I still enjoyed my second time viewing another presentation by Snyder and this time around I was able to meet him backstage. Even got a chance to catch up with Darren Criss again, uhh I’m so in love with that man; I swear he was flirting with me. But anyways, let’s focus on the real reason we’re here!
Leading up to the show EJ Samson tweeted his hopes to see Asian models on the runway at NYFW and Todd Snyder’s twitter handle responded “@ejsamson on it ” and right before the show began EJ was close by and I mentioned his tweet and excited to see how Snyder followed through on his tweet.
The show kept to the normal expected hues for autumn; mainly blacks, greys, sand-dune, orange, olive and burgundy. There was a good balance between tailored silhouettes and oversized fluid designs in parkas and warm-fitted outerwear. Layers for fall is also a norm that Snyder didn’t really go overboard with, his collection seemed more realistic with two or three layers that didn’t over compensate for lack of functionality; that I’ve seen before in other designers. There wasn’t any stiffness, every look was wearable. Each piece he showcased was an essential must-have from his blue and white harmonious crew neck sweater to small items like scarfs and gloves to his dominate eye catching coats. No matter if you dress for a refined or rebellious look, Todd Snyder FW 16 couldn’t be pegged for just one particular man. Simply put he has that coterie-fluid design esthetic that every person loves, which is perhaps the reason behind his success.
